The Capitol reigns control these days, and have for many years. Only the oldest generation faintly remember a time when they had a voice, a choice, a chance of reason. Now? Now they're all puppets in the Capitol's rulings and ways.
Split into several districts to keep the working hand busy and the Capitol well stocked and alluring, there's a reason why the people stay where they've been placed and don't try to rise up and change things. Years ago, the poorest of districts tried that very thing; they rallied their people, harbored their resources, and tried to press against an all empowering dictatorship. All attempts were proven futile, when the entire district was bombed as punishment for their rebellion. What the Capitol don't realize, is that some from that district were prepared. They'd built an entire under ground town and stocked it well to survive for years to come. The time for a new rebellion is approaching, and they'll jump at the chance as soon as it arises.
To keep the other districts in line, it was ruled by the Capitol that two tributes from each district would be selected and put into an arena, where they fight to the death until one lone victor stands. The time for the seventy-fifth annual "Hunger Games" is rapidly approaching, and nobody will get what they bargained for.
When Dot's name is reaped the first chance that she comes of age, and her older brother Flik volunteers to take her place, tides turn. It's never been seen before that someone from a lowly district volunteers to go into the arena. They aren't fighters, they don't have the money to train, and they're too destitute to have the food for significant muscle mass. They aren't like the Circus Bugs, so the rest of the districts call them. Flik isn't even the richest of /his/ district, he breaks laws and passes barriers to feed his crazed family. That's left to people like Atta and her mother, who own a shop and feed the rest for a price.
Something will come of the Flik and Atta, Ants (the miner district) with a aching past, being tossed into the games together. Allies will be made. Enemies will be come by the dozens. Nobody will be prepared when a crack is found in the Capitols air tight seal. Will the nation survive another rebellion, or will this be the end for all entirely?
