One too many times the Volturi Coven have been defeated, so to speak, by the Cullen Coven and their friends. They've got this reputation to uphold; they're all powerful, all in charge, and vindictive. If they keep slipping up to the Cullen's, vampires everywhere are going to start looking down their noses to the royal coven, that is.. if they haven't already. Everybody already knows that the Volturi break their own rules, don't play fair, and are a coven bred of cowards hiding under Aro's name.
Say word gets to them about a hunter organization in Italy that's gearing to meet up with one in America, to take down the Cullen's. Would the Volturi perform their duties and step in the way to protect the nature of their species? Or, would the Volturi be just selfish enough to turn up their noses and look the other way. If the hunters get rid of the Cullen's once and for all,the Volturi would easily be seen as the most powerful coven again, right? Although, what if there are a few members of said coven that are tired of hiding under a name, when they know that they can amount to so much more with their powerful gifts; namely, the witch twins and a certain blonde Master with his wife.
